My first art training was at Wallasey School of Art for a three year ceramics course,
which also included botanical studies, life drawing, photography, sculpture and
silversmithing.

The course helped to develop my interest in detailed flower painting, leading me into
the world of greetings card design where I worked freelance for several publishers
including The Medici Society, Lings Cards and Rustcraft.

My painting style varies from watercolour studies and illustrative works
to impressionistic gardens and landscapes in oils and acrylics, onto larger,
more imaginative and dreamlike scenes including trompe l'oeil and murals.

I have always found great inspiration in our rich variety of native flowers and wildlife
these being the main subjects of my paintings and try to portray the essence of each
season in an idealistic way. It is an attempt to capture and  preserve certain elements
of the changing countryside before it is lost through over development and industrialisation.
